
Melissa Crystal O'Neil (born July 12 1988,) is a Canadian actress and singer. O'Neil, the first Canadian female winner of Canadian Idol's 3rd season, was the winner in 2005. She is known best as an actress due to her performances in the series Syfy as Two / Rebeccaand Portia Lin, and on ABC as Officer Lucy Chen in the ABC procedural drama series The Rookie. She was chosen to be in the bottom three and two of the finals. In shock, the judges asked viewers to cast their votes for contestants like Melissa, who clearly had the greatest vocal talent. In the following weeks, O'Neil never fell back to the bottom of the list after giving consistently excellent performances, and judge Zack Werner declaring that she was "a threat to win the entire thing". O'Neil and Rex went on to make it to the final two of the contest on the 7th of September the 7th of September, 2005. Following yet another impressive performance, Werner declared that "The King [Kalan Porter] is dead, long live Queen". O'Neil defeated Goudie in the final results shows on September 14, 2005 . He went on to win the title of the third Canadian Idol.
